RF's Story
I am from a family of 12 siblings. I lost my father at a young age. My mother is a fishmonger so she couldn't support me to further my education. I stayed at home for nearly two years after my secondary school education. I contacted the IBB for advice about wanting to do nursing. The IBB INSPIRENURSE supported me with purchasing an application form for nursing, helped me with preparing for the interview and paying all my fees including tuition fees, accommodation and other expenses from year one. I started at the Sekondi-Takoradi Nurses Training College in 2021. I am now in my 2nd year and due to complete my nurse training next year. I am where I am because of the IBB INSPIRENURSE and will be a nurse soon because of IB's support. Thank you IBB.

I come from a family of 5. My mum is a trader and my dad is a graphic designer who's currently unemployed. The financial situation of my family took a great turn after my dad lost his job and my sister was diagnosed with a long term underlying health condition. Managing a person with the condition is very draining financially in Ghana as healthcare is very expensive. As such, my parents tend to use the little they get to pay bills and buy medications which are very expensive. This makes it very difficult for my fees to be paid on time. Last year, my parents managed to pay my fees a day before the deadline and this did me great harm, I couldn't register for Introduction to African studies. I had to go to various offices and through various processes to have it registered. This was very disheartening. Also, I almost lost my residential status because I didn't pay for my fees on time in order to register and pay for the hall . Getting support from your foundation is going to be a great relief for my parents and I since I wouldn't have to be thinking and worrying soo much about how I will pay my fees and living in the fear of dropping out due to difficult financial situations at home. Thank you.

PAJ's Story
My father works as a civilian worker and my mother is a trader selling corn and cassava dough. I was under a lot of stress as my parents could not afford to pay my tuition and accommodation fees. I was worried about dropping out of university. I applied for the IBB Scholarship and being successful was one of the best days of my life. It was such a relief when I was informed that the foundation will support with my tuition fees, accommodation and other expenses.
I have the philosophy of being the best or among the best and, therefore I regard this important scholarship as an opportunity for me to achieve my dream of becoming a top notch nurse in my country and the world at large where I could contribute my quota to the betterment of humanity through quality health care.
In spite of my underprivileged background, I have always seen such scholarship as an opportunity to work harder and turn around the almost hopeless situations to one of hope and optimism. I therefore, hope to learn harder and also bring my strong academic and leadership abilities to bear on the program.
Thank you to IB for helping me. It has made a difference to my whole family
